Questions, bug reports, and feedback go to earthquakealerts.app@apptune.dev. If you are reporting a missed alert, include your device model, its OS version, and the location you picked in the App.
Why didn't I get an alert?
Alerts go out for earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 or higher, within a distance that grows with magnitude:
- Below 5.0: 100 km
- 5.0 to 5.9: 200 km
- 6.0 to 6.9: 400 km
- 7.0 to 7.9: 800 km
- 8.0 and above: 1,500 km
An agency must also report the earthquake within 10 minutes of when it happened. Later reports still appear on the map but do not send an alert. If an earthquake met these limits and you still missed it, check that:
- Notifications for the App are allowed in your device settings.
- Focus or Do Not Disturb is not silencing them.
- On Android, battery optimization is not restricting the App.
- The App has a location set, either your device's or one you picked.
How do I change my location?
Open Settings in the App. Turn on Use my device location to follow your phone, or turn it off and choose a location.
How do I turn off alerts?
Turn off notifications for Earthquake Alerts in your device's notification settings.
The magnitude or location looks wrong
Agencies often revise an earthquake in the minutes after it happens, and the App updates as new reports arrive.
Can I rely on it for my safety?
No. The App is not an early-warning system, and alerts usually arrive after shaking has ended. Always follow official warnings. See the Terms of Service for details.
